A personalized research desk built to help an 8-year-old connect his ideas and builds to original research, guiding him through a process of questioning, learning, experimenting, and documenting his findings.
I used @typesafeai Jev and @OpenAI Codex Astra to build a Personalised Research Desk for my 8-year-old, not just to help Laksh read research, but to create a path from his ideas and builds to original research he can eventually publish.
Every time he says, “Dad, it works,” there is more to discover:
What did he change? Why did it work? What evidence supports it? Where might it fail? Whose breakthroughs made it possible? Has he found something that could help others?
The desk follows a simple path:
Build → Question → Learn → Experiment → Evidence → Original contribution → Publication
It helps him connect his decisions to relevant research, understand and credit earlier discoveries, run experiments, and document his methods, failures, findings, and limitations.
If his work produces something genuinely new, he can develop it into a research paper that others can inspect, reproduce, and build upon.
Jev’s role is not to think for him, but to help him think more deeply—and gradually step back as he grows.
The hope is to make building, learning, researching, and publishing openly one continuous practice—and help him carry the chain of discovery forward.
